The Police Department , incorporating Civilian Secretariat of the Police (CSP) and the SAPS, has invited the community of Siyabuswa to once again converge for a Post Imbizo Feedback Session following the successful Community Imbizo that was held on 11 December 2024.
The Imbizo has brought together the management of the Police and members of the communities of Siyabuswa and KwaMhlanga, as well as surrounding areas, to engage on matters affecting safety, security and service delivery within the area.
Today’s engagement is aimed at providing a formal feedback to the community on the issues that were raised during the 2024 Imbizo.
This session serves as an important accountability platform where the Police report back on progress made, interventions undertaken and challenges encountered in addressing concerns raised by community members.
The feedback session further seeks to inform and remind the community of the commitments made during the 2024 engagement, demonstrating transparency, openness and accountability by the South African Police Service. In line with the participatory nature of community policing, attendees are afforded an opportunity to provide inputs, seek clarity and challenge the report where necessary to ensure that the feedback accurately reflects the realities experienced by the community.
The session is attended by a broad range of stakeholders, including Traditional Leadership from Sebothoma, the Acting Mayor of Dr J.S. Moroka Local Municipality and Councillors, representatives from the Civilian Secretariat for Police Service (CSP), SAPS representatives from National Head Office, the Mpumalanga Provincial Office, the Nkangala District Commissioner’s Office and Siyabuswa SAPS.
Also in attendance are representatives from the Community Police Forum (CPF), Youth Crime Prevention Desk, Spiritual Crime Prevention structures, Rural Safety representatives, the Traditional Healers Organisation, stakeholders from the Department of Education and other government departments, members of the media, as well as members of the public from Siyabuswa and surrounding areas.
The engagement reflects the ongoing commitment by SAPS and its partners to strengthen relations with communities, promote collaborative problem-solving and enhance public confidence in policing services through regular consultation and feedback mechanisms.
