After a stellar year of racing, Glenrose Xaba has confirmed that she will return to the Boxer Super Run at Snell Parade, near Blue Lagoon Park, Durban, this coming Sunday, 12 October 2025.

In 2023, Xaba celebrated the debut of the Boxer Super Run in Durban in style by becoming the fastest South African woman (at that time) to complete a 5km run on home soil, clocking an astonishing 16:03. She missed the event in 2024 as she was preparing for her marathon debut, going on to shatter the National and Sanlam Cape Town Marathon records in October 2024 with an impressive time of 2 hours, 22 minutes, and 22 seconds.

When asked what attracts her to the Boxer Super Run, “Supercharger,” as she is affectionately known, replied that it’s the vibe on race day as well as the organisation.

“I missed out on the 2024 race because I was training for my marathon debut and aiming for the SA record, which God blessed me with,” says a very happy Xaba. “This year at the Boxer Super Run in Durban, I just want to enjoy myself and see what my legs can do. The 5km distance is special because it’s all about speed from the first kilometre to the finish. I look forward to running against training partners like Karabo More.”

Karabo Motsoeneng will make her Durban debut in 2025.

“The Boxer Super Run is a great opportunity for people to have fun while showcasing their talents,” says Motsoeneng. “The 5km distance is short but fast. My goal is to run a PB on the day. I’m looking forward to seeing the elite runners break records and set new PBs.”Carina Swiegers had such a great time at the 2024 event that she is returning in 2025.

“The Boxer Super Run is just a quick and fun day out for family and friends,” says Swiegers. “It’s something different from the usual 10km or 21.1km road races, and the vibe and organisation are top class. I absolutely love it. It’s just long enough but also short enough to run really fast. I look forward to enjoying the route and the support along the way and at the finish.”

Commenting on the exciting lineup, Lee-Ann Pillay, Head of Marketing at Boxer Superstores,We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Glenrose Xaba back to the Boxer Super Run in Durban after she had to miss last year due to her outstanding marathon debut.
