This engagement follows a formal request from the Province of KwaZulu-Natal, which sought collaborative learning to enhance service delivery in key areas. The meeting is focusing on several critical areas for development stemming from both provinces.
From KwaZulu-Natal’s request, discussions include:
* Coordination and integration of infrastructure projects,
* E-Recruitment systems and broadband connectivity innovation,
* Community policing models and public safety approaches,
* Renewable and alternative energy initiatives
* Inner City Regeneration and Urban Transformation Initiatives.
From Gauteng’s areas of interest, the agenda includes:
* Plans to promote an E-Logistics Hub to strengthen economic activity across Gauteng, Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal.• Safety and Security Interventions;
* KwaZulu-Natal’s approach to Tourism growth and complementary programmes;
* The Dube Trade Port Aerotropolis (Special Economic Zone) model;
* and the operations of the KwaZulu-Natal Disaster Management Command Centre.
Day 1 is a closed-door meeting where both administrations are tabling and discussing detailed reports and presentations on the focus areas.
The delegations comprise of Members of the Executive Councils (MECs), Directors-General, Heads of Departments, Chief Executive Officers of public entities, and other senior government officials, underscoring the high-level commitment to this collaboration.
