New palisade fence for school, and school shoes for learners
When Ditsepu High School in Ga Maja was experiencing students who came late to school and those who were missing classes, it reached out to Meropa for help.
“It was a security measures request,” says Charlene Ludick, GM at Meropa Casino & Entertainment World which funded and built a new palisade wall valued at R120 000, restoring a secure perimeter around the school.

Known for its strength and durability, palisade fencing offers reliable protection while remaining low maintenance, making it a practical long-term solution for a busy school environment. Its rigid structure helps deter unauthorised access, allowing learners and teachers to focus on what matters most.

The support did not stop at infrastructure. In a gesture that resonated on a more personal level, Meropa also donated school shoes to learners, ensuring many could return to class with a renewed sense of dignity and comfort.
Ditsepu principal Seroba Frank Malefo said the intervention came at a time when it was needed most. “There was real concern around the safety of our learners and the condition of our school. This support has helped us restore stability and focus, and it means a great deal to our entire school community. Thank you Meropa.”
Through this intervention and meaningful support, Meropa has helped Ditsepu High School regain a sense of normality, reinforcing the role those local institutions can play when it matters most.
