The much-anticipated Jozi Kota Festival returned bigger and bolder this year, transforming FNB Stadium into a sizzling hub of taste, music, and township culture on Saturday, 4 October 2025. Thousands of food lovers, music fans, and proud South Africans gathered under the Jozi sun to celebrate the ultimate symbol of Kasi creativity — the kota.

From the moment the gates opened, the stadium buzzed with excitement and mouthwatering aromas. Over 50 vendors from across Gauteng showcased their signature takes on the iconic township sandwich — layering flavours, textures, and heartwarming nostalgia in every bite. From the classic polony-and-egg staple to gourmet twists loaded with grilled meats, spicy chakalaka, and creamy sauces, festivalgoers were spoiled for choice.
This year’s festival wasn’t just a feast for the taste buds — it was a celebration of local entrepreneurship, innovation, and community spirit. Small business owners and township chefs stood shoulder to shoulder, proudly serving their creations to a diverse and enthusiastic crowd, supported by local food giants such as Albany, Clover, Sunfoil, and Thompson Meats.
Music That Moved the Masses

No Jozi celebration is complete without music — and this year’s line-up hit all the right notes. The stage came alive with a mix of Amapiano, Afro-soul, and hip-hop, featuring performances from some of Mzansi’s hottest artists. Local DJs kept the energy soaring throughout the day, blending nostalgic Kasi anthems with fresh new beats that had the crowd dancing between every bite.
As the sun set behind Soccer City, the stadium lit up in rhythm and unity — a true reflection of Jozi’s heartbeat: diverse, dynamic, and deliciously local.
A Celebration of Culture and Community

More than just a food festival, the Jozi Kota Festival has become a platform for uplifting township businesses and celebrating homegrown creativity. Families, friends, and foodies from all walks of life came together to share laughter, music, and that unmistakable Jozi vibe.
“This festival is more than just about food — it’s about identity, pride, and opportunity,” said one of the festival organisers. “Every kota sold tells a story — of where we come from, and how far we’ve come as a community.”

With smiling faces, full bellies, and music still echoing in the air, the 2025 edition of the Jozi Kota Festival left attendees hungry for more — proving once again that kasi flavour is the taste of unity, creativity, and joy.
