Mamelodi Sundowns are at home for their midweek clash and will play host to KwaZulu-Natal-based side Amazulu FC, for their second league game of the season on Tuesday night at Loftus Versfeld.
Their start to the league season didn’t kick off in the manner they had anticipated following a 1-1 draw against Chippa United over the weekend, and they will be looking to turn things around and get the rub of the green when they host Usuthu on Tuesday. Reflecting on the opening league encounter, Defender, Zuko Mdunyelwa said things didn’t go their way and they will be looking to turn things around in their backyard.
“We didn’t apply ourselves where we wanted to, and we didn’t carry out the game plan that we had for the opposition. Either than that, the atmosphere in Gqeberha was electric; it’s unfortunate we didn’t utilise it to our fullest capacity. Seeing our supporters coming in numbers again on Tuesday will be lovely, so we can try to give them positive results,” he said.
With only two days to prepare for the fixture, Mdunyelwa said his side has been working on how to emerge victorious on their home turf and expressed confidence ahead of the meeting.
“We have been working on a few tactical elements that we can have working in our favour on Tuesday. We are very much aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and we will be looking to capitalise on their weaknesses. We have a few of their key players who have been the key foundation of the team that could give us issues, but we will prepare accordingly for the team as a collective,” the defender declared.
Mamelodi Sundowns will do battle with Amazulu FC on Tuesday night at Loftus Versfeld. Kick-off has been scheduled for 19H30, live on SuperSport TV.
