The answer is increasingly somewhere between pyjamas, activewear and the clothes we’d traditionally consider acceptable outside the front door.
It is a shift that is quietly changing the sleepwear and fashion categories, as consumers look for clothes comfortable enough for the couch but put-together enough for a Teams call, coffee run, school drop-off or unexpected visitor. South African sleepwear brand N3YH is responding to that change by moving beyond traditional sleepwear and launching its first dedicated leisurewear collection, including its first range specifically for men.
The new men’s collection includes relaxed T-shirts, shorts and long lounge pants, while the women’s ribbed collection introduces long-sleeve tops and lounge pants designed to be worn from morning through to night.
All are made from bamboo fabric, selected for its breathable, lightweight, moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating qualities, allowing the pieces to function beyond traditional sleepwear. But the more interesting story is why brands are increasingly designing for life at home rather than simply bedtime. Our wardrobes now have to work differently. Working from home, hybrid schedules, food deliveries, streaming, home entertaining and a greater emphasis on comfort have created an entirely new category of dressing.

We no longer necessarily get dressed to go out. We get dressed to stay in.
N3YH’s expansion from sleepwear into leisurewear offers a timely local angle on that broader shift, and the brand is available to comment on the changing way consumers approach comfort, sleepwear and what we wear at home.

N3YH moves beyond sleepwear with its first leisurewear collection
The South African sleepwear brand is expanding into everyday leisurewear, with new collections for women and, for the first time, men.
CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA: There comes a point on a Sunday morning when pyjamas have probably had their turn, but getting properly dressed still feels unnecessarily ambitious.
N3YH has decided there should be something for that part of the day too.
The South African sleepwear brand is moving beyond the bedroom with the launch of its first leisurewear collection, introducing everyday pieces for women and, for the first time, a dedicated range for men.
For a brand built around sleepwear, moving into leisurewear isn’t a huge leap. The new pieces take the same focus on comfort beyond bedtime and into the rest of the day.
For men, the collection keeps things straightforward: relaxed T-shirts, shorts and long lounge pants in Olive, Black, Stone and White.
They are clothes for slow mornings and weekends at home, but also for working from home, travelling, watching the game or making a quick trip to the shops. Essentially, they’re for the parts of the day when comfort is the priority but pyjamas aren’t necessarily the answer.

It also marks N3YH’s first move into menswear, bringing men into the brand’s offering for the first time.
Rather than reinventing what men wear at home, N3YH has kept the collection simple. T-shirts, shorts and pants come in plain colours and clean silhouettes that can be worn together or paired with what is already in the wardrobe.
The women’s collection follows the same thinking, although with a different look.
A new ribbed range pairs long-sleeve tops with long lounge pants in Stone, Black, Olive and Bubblegum Pink. The pieces can be worn together as a set or separately, depending on the day.
Both collections are made from bamboo fabric.
The fabric is lightweight and breathable, naturally helps regulate temperature and wicks moisture away from the skin. It is also soft against the skin, making it a practical choice for clothes designed to be worn for hours at a time.
The distinction between sleepwear, loungewear and casual clothing isn’t always particularly clear anymore. A pair of lounge pants might take you through breakfast, a morning at your desk and a quick coffee run before you even think about changing. The same goes for a comfortable T-shirt or an easy matching set.
N3YH isn’t moving away from sleepwear. It’s simply designing for more of the day.
Together, the men’s and women’s collections take N3YH into a broader lifestyle space while keeping the focus firmly where it has always been: comfort.
The N3YH Leisurewear Collection is now available in-store and online.
