The season is in full swing and voting for the August Player of the Month is open. Orlando Pirates supporters can now decide which player gets to be the first to hold the honour in the new campaign by simply casting their votes.
The opening month of the 2026/27 season was a successful one for the Buccaneers, who top the Betway Premiership standings after going unbeaten in their first four matches while also securing their ticket to yet another MTN8 final. What has been an incredible team effort throughout was also aided by some standout individual performances, with valuable contributions at both ends of the pitch.
As a result of these impressive showings, a total of 6 Bucs players have made the shortlist for the August Player of the Month.
Oswin Appollis
Continuing from where he left off in his debut season in Bucs colours, Appollis has again emerged among the top performers. His two goals have been crucial to the cause while he’s also among the club’s top chance creators.
Sipho Chaine
After bagging the league’s Goalkeeper of the Season award in two consecutive seasons, Chaine looks set to add more accolades to his collection. He has kept five clean sheets in seven matches and is currently sitting on four consecutive appearances since his goal line was last breached.
Tshepang Moremi
Yet another player who has followed his impressive debut season with a productive start to the ongoing campaign, Moremi has made scoring and assisting a habit since making his move to the Buccaneers. His four appearances have yielded two goals and an assist, while he has also created nine chances.
Gamphani Lungu
The Zambian international has hit the ground running since joining in the off-season and is currently the Buccaneers’ leading scorer. Having operated at right-back as well as more advanced positions on the pitch, Lungu has netted three times and bagged an assist in his six appearances.
Lebone Seema
The reigning Premiership Defender of the Season has again been central to the Buccaneers’ impressive performances at the back. Not only has the 23-year-old been solid in the heart of the defence, but he has made some vital attacking contributions and has already registered one goal and an assist early on in the season.
Thapelo Mokobodi
The midfielder has shown great poise and maturity early in his Bucs career, and is fast establishing himself as an indispensable member of the starting lineup. Mokobodi bagged his first goal for the club over the weekend, and ranks high among the top chance creators so far in the campaign.
