The South African Football Association (SAFA) has reached another key milestone in its preparations for the upcoming Elective Congress after officially handing over all nominations received for the Association’s elections to the Governance Committee.
The handover marks the conclusion of the nomination phase and the commencement of the verification process, during which the Governance Committee will assess every nomination to ensure compliance with the SAFA Statutes and Electoral Code.
As an independent body responsible for overseeing governance matters within the Association, the Governance Committee will verify the eligibility of all nominees before the final list of approved candidates is published ahead of the Elective Congress.
The process forms part of SAFA’s commitment to upholding the principles of transparency, accountability and good governance, ensuring that the elections are conducted in a fair, credible and democratic manner.
Once the verification process has been completed, the Governance Committee will communicate the outcome in accordance with the Association’s electoral procedures, paving the way for delegates to elect SAFA’s leadership at the forthcoming Elective Congress.
The elections are expected to shape the future direction of South African football as the Association continues its efforts to strengthen governance, enhance football development and build on recent progress across all levels of the game.
