Orlando Pirates have advanced to the Carling Knockout Cup Final after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Richards Bay FC at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

A tense encounter between two determined sides was decided by a solitary goal from Tshepang Moremi, whose second-half strike sealed the Buccaneers’ passage to the final. The victory marked another resilient performance from the Soweto giants, who showcased their trademark composure and tactical discipline in a tightly contested semifinal.

Defensive stalwart Mbekezeli “TLB” Mbokazi was named Man of the Match following a commanding display at the back. Mbokazi’s leadership, precise tackling, and calm presence under pressure proved instrumental in keeping Richards Bay’s attack at bay.

Speaking after the match, Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou lauded his players for their unity and fighting spirit:

“It was not an easy game. We played against a very strong team that is well-organised and dangerous in transition. I’m proud of how my players managed the game and showed character when it mattered most. Cup competitions are about mentality, and today we demonstrated that as a group.”

Ouaddou also expressed gratitude to the supporters, adding:

“The fans continue to push us forward — home or away, their energy makes a difference. We dedicate this win to them.”

Despite the defeat, Richards Bay coach Ronnie Gabriel remained gracious, commending his team’s effort and vowing to return stronger:

“We gave everything on the pitch. Pirates took their chance well, and we wish them luck in the final. For us, it’s about learning, improving, and building on this experience.”

With the result, Orlando Pirates book their place in the Carling Knockout Cup Final, where they will battle for silverware and the pride of their passionate supporters. Details of the final fixture will be confirmed in due course.
