In a landmark collaboration, the European Union and SADC launched the Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access Programme (ATCMAP). The EUR 25 million initiative, led by UNIDO and ITC, aims to dismantle trade barriers, improve certification and accreditation processes, and enhance market access for businesses in Southern Africa.
The program’s ultimate goal is to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through technical support and regional integration. By aligning with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the SADC Industrialisation Strategy, the initiative is set to drive inclusive economic growth, ensuring businesses in the region can compete globally. This collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and advancing industrialization in the SADC region.
