Standard Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to driving inclusive economic growth and empowering small businesses through its active participation in the Proudly South African Buy Local Summit & Expo 2026, held at the Sandton Convention Centre.

As one of Africa’s leading financial institutions, Standard Bank joined industry leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs at this flagship event dedicated to advancing localisation, strengthening domestic supply chains, and unlocking opportunities for small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs).

At the heart of Standard Bank’s presence was a clear mission: to enable local businesses to grow, scale, and compete. Through its exhibition and engagement platforms, the bank showcased a comprehensive suite of financial solutions, enterprise development programmes, and advisory services designed specifically to support entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey.

“Local businesses are the backbone of our economy. By supporting SMMEs, we are not only enabling individual success stories but also contributing to job creation and long-term economic resilience,” said a Naledzani Mosomane at the event.

Standard Bank also played a key role in thought leadership discussions, contributing to critical conversations around access to finance, procurement transformation, and the role of financial institutions in fostering sustainable business ecosystems. These dialogues brought together stakeholders from across sectors to collaboratively address barriers to growth and identify practical pathways to scale local enterprises.

In addition, the bank actively participated in business matchmaking sessions, helping to connect emerging suppliers with corporate procurement opportunities. By facilitating these linkages, Standard Bank continues to support the integration of SMMEs into larger value chains, promoting meaningful participation in the mainstream economy.

The Proudly South African Buy Local Summit & Expo, themed “Localisation – A Critical Imperative to the Economy,” serves as a powerful platform to encourage the procurement of locally produced goods and services. Standard Bank’s involvement underscores its ongoing commitment to this national priority and its role as a catalyst for economic transformation.

As the summit concludes, Standard Bank remains steadfast in its purpose: to drive Africa’s growth by empowering businesses, unlocking potential, and building a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
