SADC is witnessing a surge in renewable energy entrepreneurship, driven by startups addressing energy access challenges. Companies like Malawi’s “Wakile Energy” and South Africa’s “Zambezi Green Energy” are developing affordable solar solutions for rural areas, drastically improving energy reliability for underserved communities.
These startups are beneficiaries of the SADC Renewable Energy Entrepreneurship Support Facility, which equips entrepreneurs with training, technical assistance, and funding opportunities. The initiative has already supported over 50 enterprises, demonstrating the potential for sustainable development through innovation. This wave of green innovation is helping SADC meet its energy demands while adhering to climate change commitments.
