Chillie Running Club encourages South Africa to join in on its annual 5km and 10km race in efforts to promote more movement, live healthier and find your community.
What started as a group of friends concerned about their increasingly inactive lifestyles has grown into a multi-sport community of over 500 members across four provinces. Chillie Runners wants to inspire even more South Africans to get moving, with a target of 2,000 participants for its annual CGA Chillie Runners 5km and 10km race on 8th November 2026.
Approaching its tenth year, the club is challenging the perception that fitness is only for experienced athletes. It’s message is simple: you don’t have to be fit to start; you just have to start.
The annual race, driven by the message #EyakhoNawe, “It’s yours too”, is an invitation for people of all fitness levels to participate, connect and take ownership of their health.
Through community, consistency and encouragement, the running club is showing how sport can do more than improve physical health, it can build confidence, create meaningful connections and transform lives.
From its beginnings among friends, the club has expanded across KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga, growing beyond running to include cycling and golf. With memberships increasing across South Africa namely in KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape (BORA & EPA), Western Cape and Gauteng
Beyond sport, Chillie Runners has also undertaken various community outreach programmes to make a positive difference in surrounding communities, reflecting its belief that healthier lifestyles and stronger communities are built through collective action.
The invitation is open. Whether you walk, jog or run, there is a place for you at the starting line.
