Orlando Pirates will be eager to bounce back from their MTN8 final disappointment when they host TS Galaxy in a crucial Betway Premiership encounter at Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto on Tuesday, 13 October 2026.
The Buccaneers suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in Saturday’s MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium, bringing an end to their hopes of securing a fifth consecutive title in the competition. However, with the league campaign resuming, Pirates have little time to dwell on the setback as they shift their attention to the race for the Premiership crown.
Pirates head into the encounter sitting second on the league standings with 19 points from seven matches, just one point behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played a game more. A victory against TS Galaxy would give the Soweto giants an opportunity to reclaim top spot and strengthen their title ambitions.
Despite the disappointment in Durban, the Buccaneers have enjoyed a promising start to their league campaign and will be determined to maintain their consistency. Playing in front of their home supporters could provide the motivation needed to return to winning ways.
Meanwhile, TS Galaxy will arrive in Soweto hoping to improve their league fortunes and challenge the hosts. The Mpumalanga-based side will be aware of the difficult task ahead, particularly after Pirates recorded a convincing 6-0 victory in their previous league meeting in March.
With the Betway Premiership race gathering momentum, Tuesday night’s encounter promises to be an important test for both teams. For Pirates, the mission is clear: put the MTN8 disappointment behind them, collect maximum points and keep the pressure on Sundowns in the battle for league supremacy.
Kick-off is scheduled for 19:30 at Orlando Amstel Arena
