Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued their strong start to the COSAFA Women’s Champions League Qualifier, securing a convincing 3–0 victory over Malawi’s Silver Strikers in their second Group B fixture in Gaborone.

The Brazilians made their intentions clear early, with Karabo Dhlamini opening the scoring in the 10th minute. Dhlamini struck again just eight minutes later, completing her brace and giving Sundowns a 2–0 advantage before half-time.

Isabella Ludwig then added a third in the 50th minute to put the result beyond doubt and ensure that Sundowns maintained their perfect start to the competition.

The victory follows Sundowns’ emphatic 8–0 opening-day win over Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs and leaves the Brazilians firmly in control of their qualification campaign heading into their final Group B fixture.

Speaking after the match, Khutso Pila acknowledged that the encounter was a much tougher test than their opening fixture but was pleased with the team’s ability to remain patient and eventually find the breakthrough.

“It was a tough game. Fortunately, we got the breakthrough and I think that helped us settle down and play our football. We knew it was not going to be an easy game, so we had to stay patient, remain focused and continue doing the things we worked on before the match. Once we got the first goal, we gained more confidence, but we also knew that we had to remain disciplined and not lose our concentration.”

For Dhlamini, the performance was a reflection of the collective effort from the entire Sundowns squad. After scoring twice to help secure the victory, she expressed her happiness with her contribution while making it clear that the team’s success remains the priority.

“The team performed well. We all gave 100 percent and I am so happy with the goals. It feels good to contribute to the team, especially because we worked hard for this result. But the most important thing is that we performed together and everyone played their part. We defended together, attacked together and supported each other throughout the game.”

With two wins from two matches, Sundowns Ladies now turn their attention to their final Group B fixture, where they will face Mozambique’s Costa do Sol. The Brazilians will be looking to maintain their momentum, finish the group stage strongly and take another important step towards securing a return to the CAF Women’s Champions League.
